[The following testimony is the first in a series of stories we are calling "HisStory." We title it HisStory because these accounts aren’t about us. They are not shared to draw attention to Sovereign Grace Churches, or the people that will tell them. No, our prayer is that these stories solely capture our gaze upon God and his good redemptive work. God is the providential author. He’s the masterful story writer. You see, each of our lives, our stories, are uniquely crafted and different from the rest. Yet all of our individual stories link together as an eternal, intertwining, redemptive act of worship. An act of worship to the almighty God who is the creative author of ALL our stories. In this series, we want to highlight some of the pinhole views God has given us into his grander redemptive plan amongst the members of Sovereign Grace Churches. We want to rejoice in God’s goodness to his people and give him all the glory as he writes not our stories, but HisStory.]
To Know God and Still Continue in Sin
“It was a horrible existence to know God and still continue in sin. Completely dependent on heroine, my life was ‘Do what I want, when I want, and I don’t care what the result is.’”
The snares of death encompassed me
the pangs of Sheol laid hold on me;
I suffered distress and anguish.
Then I called on the name of the Lord:
“O Lord, I pray, deliver my soul!”
Destin Mahalik is a member of Covenant Fellowship Church in Glenn Mills, PA, who recently shared at his local church the story of God’s unrelenting pursuit in his life. As Destin so passionately said; “There is NO ONE on this planet that is too far gone for God to save through the cross of Jesus Christ. Everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Gracious is the Lord, and righteous;
our God is merciful.
The Lord preserves the simple;
when I was brought low, he saved me.
Return, O my soul, to your rest;
for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you.
- Psalm 116
We invite you to worship the God of our salvation as you listen to Destin’s full testimony.
